Ol' Number 9...
#9 is an Australian cane engine, Keith Watson
of Australia originally designed it. I believe the engine is
based on a Baldwin design. The kit for this engine is now available
from Roll Models of Fresno, Ca. As I never could 'color between
the lines', I have made many changes; none really necessary as
it is a fine engine as originally designed. Some of the changes
are Stephenson valve gear, full driver and lead truck equalization,
an additional 4 inches in the rear frame extension, outside bearing
lead truck, and Forney type trailing truck. My friend Tom Gazsi
built a beautiful "Stuart" as they are called in the
catalog. He built his before the castings were available in the
states, and got his parts from Australia. When I saw his engine
I said, "Oh boy, I have to have one!"
