Tender & Service
Pit
I was working with my Father, Emil the
blacksmith, helping him fit up the brake hangers and pins. We
were down in the service pit and Mr. Lyman walks over and starts
in, "Nasty old wood brake beams, why it used to keep several
men busy maintaining all them old brakes. You could never keep
all that mess tight, and every once in a while one would come
loose and go under the wheels. Then you had one hell of a mess."
In the back ground you can see the new cow catcher that Tony
the carpenter has made, and also the new stack from the sheet
metal shop.
